Gladiator bun!

These two little bunnies were so determined to see what was on the other side of this ramp. It took them 5 minutes of taking two steps forward and sliding one step back before one decided to quit and the other discovered there was nothing to see.

"My first puddle! It's delicious!"

I let one if the babies explore the ground after this morning's big rain. He hopped into the deep end and took a few sips.

Thursday, May 19, 2011

"I love my grandpa!"

Bandit was constantly hopping to Mochi's side today.

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

"I like turtles!"

We found this little critter crossing the road and swept him into a box so that we could relocate him. Before release, I showed him to Leroy. He was very fascinated with the turtle, though I can't say the feeling was mutual.

Strawberry time!

VIdeo Bonus: A Failed Flop

One of the babies tries a snuggle and a flop at the same time.

Friday, May 13, 2011

Free food!

The bunnies don't love lawn grass, but it is a nice departure from the norm. Ickus does love to see a heaping pile of food, however.

Ickus says goodnight

I took Ickus outside to romp in the front yard for a little bit before sunset. It is nice to walk him without the harness for a change.

Monday, May 2, 2011

They are so cute at this age

I will admit, one of things I enjoy about having baby bunnies is how they fit in small spaces. They are so adorable.

Out of the nestbox

The babies are just over 2 weeks old now. They hop out of the nest box frequently and they sample mommy's pellet food.

Thursday, April 28, 2011

"Can we keep him?"

Ickus went to the vet today. He is almost back to normal but the head is still tilted. The office cats took a real interest in him.

Time to call Weight Watchers

One of our big girls, Lily, was watching a smaller bunny get cozy in this hidey hole. Later on when she tried to crawl in there herself, she tasted failure.

Stitch had no problem at all. She is visiting her family today.

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Snuggle me! Please!

Tumble took a stroll outside today with her cat siblings by her side the whole time. They love bunnies and Screamer here was desperately throwing himself at her feet.

Bunny growth formula

The litter is getting big so fast! They are exactly 2 weeks old and they are approaching the size of Bandit, who is an adult now. They opened their eyes this week and they are all pink just like their father.

Monday, April 25, 2011

Put on your 3D glasses!

I left this frame next to Ickus and he crawled right through it!

Friday, April 22, 2011

Mmm... Hail

Leroy loves to lick hail stones. Who knew?

Bunnies Watching Lightning

Our Lionhead is very intrigued by lightning. He could watch for hours.

Magnus, on the other hand, is made quite uncomfortable by the flashes and thunder.

Frans meets his doppelgänger

Not all animals pay attention to what they see in the mirror. Frans, however, was quite fascinating.

Video bonus: Water Bottle Push-Ups

Our big white bunny is full of strange behaviors. He likes to perch on top of his food bowl, and now this?

Saturday, April 16, 2011

Wow it's windy

Oklahoma has been experiencing some strong winds over the past few days. Our fluffy lionhead has issues with aerodynamics when we let him outside.

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Just like his father

The six babies are still growing and starting to show just a little bit of fur. They are all rambunctious kickers, much like their dad. They nearly launch themselves out of my hands if I hold them.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Preparing for lift off

Our big white rabbit has invented his own fantasy vehicle: the ear-propeller sled.

6 more babies

One of the big rabbits that we inherited was pregnant and she had 6 babies today. Two are black like her and four are white like their father.

Monday, April 11, 2011

Good thing the silver is in the other cabinet

Kiwi found her way under the sink today and then made her way over to the baking supplies.

Saturday, April 9, 2011

Foot for a tail

Our two big ladies seem to prefer the wall sandwich rather than their little wooden cabin.
I can't get over how big they are compared to our dwarf rabbits. Their strength, appetite, and poops are triple! Even the tail is as big as a foot.

"How dare you embarrass me!"

Apparently JD was doing the laundry and feeling girly when I interrupted him.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Fluffy shark?

Every time I look at Nani or her siblings and I see those black-tipped ears, I see shark flippers.
And when they exhibit a shark-like appetite, it's like watching Jaws.

Monday, April 4, 2011

"Hmm, seems I forgot my reading glasses."

JD reads an issue of "Domestic Rabbits." I think he just wanted more pictures.

Saturday, April 2, 2011

The food is the other way

Frans, our newly acquired rabbit, is quite a unique fellow. He is the sweetest. You could hold him forever without him squirming.
He also has very modest eating habits. He crawled into a bag of food but didn't chow down at all.

Friday, March 25, 2011

Hey! That's traveling!

Ickus has not fully recovered from his head tilt yet, but he has made great progress. He is oriented enough to hop around the front yard while Dad shoots a few free throws. Even though he is handicapped his spirit is undeterred. He was just as happy as ever to be out in the sunshine and eating the grass.

Super scowl

We recently had to shuffle the bunnies around. Almost everyone got a new cage, and Kiwi is making it plain just how she feels about change.

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

New rabbit #5

This big guy is a New Zealand, I'm told. He is super shy about people, but likes cats.

Sunday, March 20, 2011

New rabbits #3 and 4: Lionheads

These girls are litter mates, but look how different they are in fluffiness!
They are good-tempered but shy.

Caught in the cookie jar

Friday, March 18, 2011

New bunny #2

One of the big girls who visited us a few weeks ago is now part of our herd as well. Here you can see her playing with our Rumble.
She is super protective of her own hutch but she is nice if you take her to another space.

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

An addition to the herd

We had a tragic death in the family yesterday. He left behind six rabbits, which we have brought home with us. My favorite is this handsome young Dutch boy named Frans.

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Gum Ball droppings

Webby appears to be puzzled. "When did I start dropping big rainbow poopies?"

Saturday, March 12, 2011

"Excuse me, I think this loaf of white bread is looking at me."

Webby demonstrates a pose we call "the loaf" or sometimes "the bunny slipper."

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Rabbit fusion

Vanna has always loved snuggling -- not with humans, but with other rabbits. It's as if she has a bunny magnet in her head. It makes for many adorable moments each day.

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Magnus: Stealthbun

Magnus is ready to spring out and surprise anyone walking by.

Friday, March 4, 2011

More bubbles next time

If you have ever had to give a rabbit a bath before, you will know that it is only slightly less treacherous to bathe a cat!
Not so with Rumble though. Even though he is hands down the worst in personal hygiene, he is a very good boy at bathtime. Also, he naturally dries in record time.
He doesn't get a bath often, but when they do come along, it is not a nightmare for either the bather or the bathee.

The Best Friends

I caught Magnus and Tumble snuggling this afternoon.
We have different names for each group of roommates:
Ickus, JD, and Mochi: the Three Amigos
Kiwi and her daughter Nani: the Kiwis
Tumble and Magnus: The BFFs

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Mochi poses

Mochi got to play around in the living room while we watched tv. He stopped zipping around for just enough time to strike a pose for the camera.

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Ickus babysits

Our guard kitty, Cow, had a litter last week and we brought a couple of them into the house during Ickus' lunch time. He did not even glance up from his pile of food.
Ickus' recovery is coming along slowly. He still has head tilt bit we are seeing him show more and more spunk every day.

Saturday, February 26, 2011

A giant visitor

Grandpa brought a couple of his rabbits over today. Each of these weigh more than five times any bunny in our herd. They got along great with our bunnies and got to romp around in the pen for a while.

The Ritual of Hugs

Hugs loves attention from me. Whenever I come in the room, he waits at the cage door until I open it. Then he rests his chin on the ledge and persuades me to pet him. It happens many times a day without fail.
