JD's dwarf loaf

There are a lot of reasons that people think Netherland Dwarfs are cute, but to me it is the short front legs. JD is an active guy, so I don't get to see him lay down much. This was a treat.

JD went to a get-together with us today and everyone wanted to hold him and give him carrots. He was a very good boy and he made lots of new friends.

A mammal with pin feathers?

Our three boys have started shedding simultaneously. JD, being gray underneath his black tips, is very conspicuous during this season. Here you can see he has developed odd spots in his coat that I call "pin feathers."

A flash of white

JD's body is black but when you get him out in the sun, his white belly is blinding.

"I'll admit your skills have improved..."

"...But that doesn't mean I have to like it."

JD does not like Hugs. Mochi consistently intervened to keep JD from nipping at his son, Hugs, through the wire.

Chow time!

The Three Amigos always huddle around the bowl until the pellets are gone. It doesn't matter if there is not room for all three faces in there, they only lift their head to finish chewing and then swallow.

"That's enough vacuuming for the day"

JD stands between Mom and her favorite appliance - The Shark handheld vac. With two nesting moms, we are vacuuming dropped fur every day and I think JD wants a break.

Nesting box inspector

We palpated our two girls, Kiwi and Vanna, another time today. This time we felt something inside, so we may just have two litters on the way! Local stores sell one nesting box for $25 each! So mom just went to Lowes and purchased the building materials for two boxes at $18. JD, in the middle of a big sudden shed, is inspecting the project for quality. You can see that even after heavy grooming, he has developed a big ugly fur saddle.

The Huddle Buddies

We started to refer to JD, Ickus, and Mochi as "The Three Amigos". I think the reason is obvious.
