Bunnies Watching Lightning

Our Lionhead is very intrigued by lightning. He could watch for hours.


Magnus, on the other hand, is made quite uncomfortable by the flashes and thunder.

Outside party

We let a record amount of bunnies have a run in the enclosure at one time today. Altogether, they totaled eight.
Here Magnus keeps watch over her precious fortress. She likes to have it all to herself.

"Decaf?!"

Tumble and Magnus are eating out of an old mug instead of a foodbowl currently. They probably wish there was some nice bunny hot cocoa in it though.

Finally friends

Magnus and Tumble have been roommates for a few days now, but I wouldn't say they have bonded. It is more like calm toleration.
Maybe Magnus is having withdrawals after being separated from her mother and subsequently replaced by three babies. Take comfort in your new friend, Magnus.

New roommate

The Kiwi Clones have reached maturity now and we separated the boy from the girls. Magnus also had to move out of her mom's cage to make room for a new litter. We un-boxed a new pad today and we're seeing if Magnus would like a roommate. They have stayed as far apart as possible all afternoon.

Amateur wrestlers

Vanna and Magnus are always in a struggle when a fresh water bottle gets hooked on the wall. In this photo, Magnus won.

Heavy drinkers

All our rabbits go through days where they have an insatiable thirst. It provided me a great opportunity to photograph Magnus' tongue, however.

Another guilty party

Magnus and the other four young bunnies have already left their mark in the new bunny room by chewing up some of the protective wallpaper.

Side by side for dinner time

Magnus and Vanna traded food bowls with Hugs. Now they have two food compartments and they don't climb over each other to get a bite.

Non-standard markings

Magnus was born according to the hotot breed description but he has sprouted some non-standard markings as he matures. One of them is this "beauty mark" on the hip. But of course we love him no matter how spotty he becomes.

A new room

We finished the bunny room a few days ago. Some of the new features include:
Linoleum instead of carpet
A bunny shelf instead of end tables
Increased floor space for free running
A waste chute to the exterior through which to pass dirty bunny trays (instead of carrying them through the living room and out the front door)
It is bunny-owner approved. Very much so. Especially the waste slot.

The Dinner Bell

We picked up a value pack of kitty bell ball toys yesterday. Vanna and Magnus played with theirs for a little bit, then they slam dunked it in their food bowl and left it there. I think they are trying to draw attention to the fact the bowl needs filling.

Afraid of the sun?

I learned something new about Magnus today when I opened the window. He threw a fit when the sun began shining in the room. He left and hid in this shadow box in the hallway.

Rumble did a much better job handling the glare.

The water boy

Magnus and his mother, Vanna, always get the urge to drink at the same time. It results in this cute dog pile effect where they are constantly climbing over each other to take turns at the bottle.

A Magnus sandwich

While working at the computer, I like to have a bunny sit near me in a box. Here Magnus gets wedged in the corner by his buddy, Stitch.

A walking eater

Magnus is like a lawn mower, gnawing up pieces of grass as he moves through the blades. As opposed to his uncles who like to rip up long stalks and then devour them wood chipper-style.

"Play time is over? Already?"

Magnus gets picked up and carried back inside.

"We've been caught!"

Stitch and Magnus sit in their plastic box, snacking on a few spare pellets.

Magnus: Future lifeguard

Magnus takes on a solemn duty, even as a youngster. Most kids want to play in the pool but he wants to adopt some serious responsibility.
